Economic Study in KAVAJA AND Rrogozhina

The study is realized as part of the project Routes4culture and the purpose of it is to understand what the economic sector of Kavaja and Rrogozhina is and understand the importance of cultural tourism in both municipalities.

Cultural heritage attractions in the areas of Kavaja & Rrogozhina

This study is carried out within the Routes4culture project, which is supported by the EU4CultureAlbania Program (financed with European Union funds and implemented by UNOPS in close partnership with the Ministry of Culture), and which is implemented on the ground by the organization AULEDA – Agency for Local Economic Development. The focus of this research work is the analysis and promotion of heritage and cultural sites belonging to the territory of Kavaje and Rrogozhine municipalities, and the proposal of activities in the form of new tourist itineraries as a method to promote local development


Honey production sector reflects a tradition and culture related to food structure that is used mainly in the region of Vlora. Businesses operating in this field have started their activities since the early 1980s (inside state structures) and after changes in the smaller private structure.


Our country is represented by a large range of grape genetic resources, due to the ancient tradition of growing and passionate work of our farmers in the preservation and improvement. From the large swarms of these cultivars, natural selection and the farmer has been able to store and add only those who have fulfilled their interests in terms of productivity and qualitaty. Albanian Vineyards has now entered a new stage of development, in that of high quality products at the same level with the internation viticulture.


In Vlora region the businesses that operate in the Agro-food area are small businesses, mostly family businesses with an experience of not more than 20 years. They operate mainly in the local and regional market and a limited quantity for export. Their products are in most cases crafted and the use of technology goes proportional to the size of the business.


Oil factories provide the services of olive processing even for others farmers who don’t have the possibility to process separately or for waste processing, drying them and resale it to interested businesses. Olive residues are very economical to be used as combustibles by helping in this way the environment as well.


In accordance with the outputs of IPATECH project -WP4, Act 4.2, Auleda undertook an analysis of the needs and opportunities of the Agro-Food sector in Vlora Region.
The aim of this action is to make a consolidated study on current needs & opportunities of Agro-food sector in order to indentify, trace, record & understand the situation from all stakeholders of IPATECH project.

“Transnational Strategy for organization of trainings and curricula towards growth and employment of young people in the tourism” was drafted following the conduction of a transnational study on the current state-of-the-art in the field of tourism education, including curriculum assessment and institutional profile; analysis of the profile and needs of the students in tourism specializations and tourism entrepreneurs from four Balkan countries


The present report has been implemented in the framework of FOCUS project. The general purpose of the project is to promote SMEs’ networking and structured exchanges towards the advancement of the  enterprises’ capacity to adopt new technologies and business models and introduce novel market driven products and marketing ideas.


Study for evidence and the inclusion of the strongest points of the area of ​​Rrogozhina and Kavaja.
This phase coincides with the analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities to develop area, as well as hazards. This analysis will give us some results, which we will then use during the path design phase.

Historical development of Gjirokastra should be seen in a larger geographical context. Nowadays
Gjirokastra is located on the side of the hill framing Drino Valley which bears wealthy testimonies of
different developments. Drino Valley was inhabited as early as 8th century BC, while Gjirokastra as a
settlement started to be developed some 4 centuries later


Priorities and objectives dedicated to the agro food sector. AULEDA supports Vlora region development and facilitates its alignment with the National Stabilization and Association Agreement Action Plan, the National Strategy for Development and Integration and the Integrated Planning System.
